My hubby and I try and go see one movie a month. But this month we got to see two.
The first movie we saw was the Immortals.
We went together with another couple to dinner and a movie. I actually really liked the movie. And not just because Henry Cavill had a nice body. The movie was extremely aesthetically pleasing with beautiful cinematography. The plot was easy to follow, although with rather minimal character development. My only criticism was the many liberties taken by the writers. Now I don’t know much about Greek mythology, but I am pretty sure that the G-ds didn’t die. Also, it would have been nice for them to clearly name all of the G-ds, not just Zeus and Athena. That being said, if I was choosing between like and dislike – I would say like.
I would definitely recommend it and would give it 4/5 stars.
The second movie we saw this month was The Muppets
We got to see two movies this month, because this second one we saw at home with my family over the Thanksgiving break. Now I grew up with the muppets. Particularly the muppet babies. I loved the Muppets. Aminal has and always will be my favorite. My family and I used to watch reruns, movies and even listen to books on tape about the Muppets.
My first reaction to the movie, was if you don’t already love the Muppets, you probably aren’t going to like this movie. (unless you are a child under the age of 10 and don’t know the difference). To me, this kind of defeats the point, which I had thought was to bring back the muppets. They used a lot of old classy theatrical displays instead of really amping it up with new 2011 features. I found Amy Adams and Jason Seigel to be rather cheesy. and the Muppet characters themselves were very melencholy – not enough of the old rediculous interplay between them. I wanted to see more Muppets, and less of the Adams-Seigel drama, and frankly? I think I could have done without the singing (leaving in of course the rainbow connection which is a Kermit classic). I think of the “real people” cast, Jack Black did the best job.
Now, of course, it made me laugh. and I really do love the Muppets so I definitely enjoyed it.
Overall I would give it 3.5/5 stars. I would recommend it to people who like the Muppets and to those with children, but don’t make this your first introduction to the Muppets.
Anyone see Puss in Boots? My brother is raving about it.
What movies have you seen this month? What did you think of it?
Have you seen the Immortals or the Muppets? Do you agree?
